You Keep Waiting for Change… But You're the One It's Waiting On

I've been thinking a lot about action lately.
The kind we actually take.
Because nothing in your life is ever going to change unless you do. And I know that sounds almost too simple — but look around. How many women do you know who want something different, talk about something different, dream about something different… and yet, they're still in the exact same place?
High-achieving women. Smart women. Women who have built careers, led teams, and figured out harder things than this.
Maybe you've even caught yourself there.
Wanting more. Knowing — for sure — there has got to be more. Feeling that quiet nudge that says, this isn't it.
And still not moving.
When Awareness Isn't Moving You Forward
I see this all the time in my work. People come to me because they're in pain. Their bodies hurt, their posture is off, they don't feel good in their day-to-day life, or they just want to move better — whether that's at work or out playing pickleball with their friends.
And in our sessions?
We do great work.
They feel better.
You can see the shift immediately.
But then the rest of the week happens.
Life gets busy. Things come up. The exercises don't get done.
And when they come back in… we're starting from the same place.
Again.
And it's not because they don't care. It's not because they're not capable. It's because somewhere along the way, they've gotten comfortable letting someone else do the work for them.
And I say that with love… because we all do it in some area of our lives.
We wait. We think about it. We gather information. We tell ourselves we'll start "soon."
But nothing actually changes until we do something.
We touched on this in the podcast this week — not in a heavy way, just enough to get you thinking.
Because the truth is, most people are sitting in awareness. They know what they need to do. They can feel it.
But awareness without action? It's just a really frustrating place to live.
You can't learn to swim by reading about it. At some point, you have to get in the water.
The Kelly Newlon Method for Moving From Waiting to Choosing
And I had one of those moments myself not too long ago. Sitting in a conference, looking around, and realizing…
I had been here before. Same type of room. Same kind of information.
And if I was really honest with myself, I hadn't moved nearly as much as I thought I had over the last five years.
That one stung a little.
Because time is moving whether we are or not.
And if we're not intentional, we can stay in the same place for years while convincing ourselves we're "working on it."
This is exactly the work that Kelly Newlon Global's identity and alignment coaching is built around — helping high-performing women 45+ close the gap between knowing and actually deciding.
Because those are two very different things.
So what does that mean?
It means the thing you want — the change, the growth, the different life — it's not waiting on more time or more information.
It's waiting on your decision to move.
And not in some big, overwhelming way.
Just one step. That's it.
One stretch at home instead of none. One walk when you didn't feel like it. One honest conversation you've been avoiding. One decision that your old version of you wouldn't have made.
That's how it starts.
Choosing Yourself Is the Most Grounded Thing You Can Do

And somewhere in there, you have to make a shift.
From waiting… to choosing.
"I choose me."
Not in a selfish way. In a responsible way. In a grounded, grown-woman kind of way where you realize that no one is coming to do this for you.
Here is the empowering thing about this: if it's on you… it's also available to you.
Meaning — you're not stuck because you can't change.
You're stuck because you haven't fully decided to yet.
And once you do? Everything opens up.
This is the kind of conversation we go deeper on every week at Real Conversations with Kelly — because it deserves more than a quick take. If this is landing for you, take a listen. And then ask yourself one honest question.

A Question Worth Sitting With Today
So let me ask you something…
Where in your life are you waiting instead of moving?
And what is one thing — just one — you can do today that moves you forward?
Not tomorrow. Not when it's convenient. Today.
Because the life you keep thinking about… it's not going to show up because you wanted it badly enough.
It shows up when you start acting like it matters.
Go choose yourself.
I would love to hear from you! Comment below and tell me what you know has been stopping you.
